Very nice non excavated example of the .50 caliber cartridge for the Dr. Maynard's carbine. Patented in 1859, substantial numbers in both .50 and .35 caliber were sold to Southern States prior to and at the beginning of the Civil War. Florida, Georgia and Mississippi are known to have made purchases from Maynard.
