On December 1818 the Ordnance Department contracted with Nathan Starr for 10,000 of the model 1818 cavalry sabers. The blade is 32 inches with leather covered grip, iron mounts and an iron scabbard. Nice untouched condition with US over P over LS (Luther Sage Inspector) and N.Starr stamped on the top of the blade. The blade has a dark gray mottled appearance with a very few minor nicks. The scabbard has an untouched deep dark age patina. All in all a very nice example of a sword that was used well into the 2nd Seminole Indian War.
