1861 edition of the revised regulations for the U.S. Army. Signed on the inside title page, William Cutting Washington Saturday November 16, 1861. William Cutting served on the staff Of General Ambrose Burnside as aide-de-camp as a Major. At the wars end he was brevetted Brigadier General, U.S. Volunteers for gallant and meritorious service at the Battle of Fredericksburg.
