The State of South Carolina purchased several thousand Enfield Rifle Muskets. This rare example has a state ownership mark, SC , on the obverse buttstock and on the comb of the stock. The buttplate tang has the engraved number 1230 dirty, but clearly visible. Overall untouched black gun in attic condition. The stock is in overall fine condition with a soldier carved Confederate battle flag on the stock opposite the lock. The brass nose cap, buttplate and trigger guard have an almost black tarnished untouched patina just as you like to find a Confederate arm. Lock plate and barrel markings are clearly visible. A confederate South Carolina used long arm with a loud rebel yell.
