Nice untouched example dated 1864 made by Emerson and Silver of Trenton, New Jersey. Total production is said to have been about 27,000 swords under 6 contracts. About 19,000 were produced under 4 contracts in 1864,this sword being one of those.
The saber retains almost 100% of the original leather and wire wrap with the normal wear associated with use. The brass guard has a nice pleasing patina and the scabbard has a nice brown patina as well with a few minor dents. The blade has a grey mottled appearance with a few minor nicks on the edge. The markings are not stamped evenly but are discernible.
