Estimated production estimated to have been approximately 10,000 delivered by E. Remington Herkimer, New York between 1850-54. Lock marked Remington's Herkimer, N.Y. and with US and dated 1851. Iron parts retain a deep dark patina with pitting around bolster and down the barrel. The wood is good with 2 minor cracks forward of the lock and on the corner opposite the lock. The mechanical action is fine and th.58 caliber bore retains decent rifling. The ramrod appears to be a replacement.
