Fair condition rifle with the lock and barrel dated 1853 with US over JH over VP clearly visible on the barrel. Typical Colt folding leaf rear site on the barrel but missing the clamp on bayonet lug as found on the Colt Mississippi alterations. The metal and stock have been cleaned by a previous owner many years ago. The .58 caliber bore retains fair rifling. Wood is fair with the usual nicks and scratches.
