Dark attic condition gun with an 1851 date on the lock plate. Pitting around the bolster obscures the date on the barrel tang but the ABM over P remains visible. The rifle remains in the original unaltered configuration with the exception of the bore which is smooth and approximately .60 caliber probably from civilian use. The wood is fine with the exception of a few minor cracks that are visible under magnification. The inspector's cartouche is faintly visible opposite the lock. The brass parts have a nice age patina with a sharp US visible on the butt plate and the ram rod appears to be a replacement. A decent Mississippi priced to sell.
