Approximately 5000 made by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut under U.S. contract between 1821-1823 with this one dated 1821. Overall medium gray patina having been cleaned quite a few years ago. This example appears to have been reconverted back to flint. Markings visible on the lock and barrel with the Johnson markings partially visible. The mechanical function is fine and operates properly. The wood is in overall good condition with the usual nicks and dings associated with use and storage. The bore is .58 caliber and apparently was re-rifled at the time it was converted to percussion and still displays strong rifling.
