One of the better examples of a Richmond carbine that I have encountered in quite some time. Most of the Richmond carbines are usually beat to death from hard field service. This one obviously saw service but is in better condition than what I usually see. This carbine is completely correct in every aspect except the rear sight which is a correct replacement. The barrel has a dark patina with pitting around the bolster obscuring the barrel date. Typical off center bore indicating the use of barrels not acceptable for musket length. The lock has a dark patina with strong markings and is dated 1863. Typical Richmond hammer, barrel bands, hammer knurling, wood inletting and teat on the rear sight mortise in the barrel. The brass butt plate and nose cap have a very nice untouched patina. It has what appears to have the original ramrod and rear sling swivel in the stock. If you are looking for a fine example of a Richmond Carbine this should fill the bill.
